![]() I do enjoy the mythos overall, so I'm curious to see where it leads, although I do dislike the new direction. When she just walked away from Isaac in the Admiral's Quarters, that seemed fairly unlike the woman who crashed into a space station on purpose to save Isaac despite being purposely sent away. The story is OK, what I've seen of it so far, although I don't like the changes in Ellie. ![]() The combat alone is making the game a slog to get through. The combat consequently feels far less visceral and my guns feel like BB guns. In #3, I can blast away at the creature's legs for two or three shots, with absolutely no effect. In the first two games, killing an enemy was an art: slice off a leg to limit its movement, slice off an arm to limit its attack, and finish it with a head shot. ![]() The most grievous offence so far in my eyes is how they destroyed the combat. The zero g was also vastly improved, and the environments were thankfully a bit more interesting. The gameplay was arguably more fun in #2, as the controls felt tighter and I enjoyed most of the weapons. I enjoyed the plot in both games, although the atmosphere in the first was the best. It felt like Aliens, in that the combat was more intense and frequent and the number of necromorphs staggered out of control. It had lost most of the horror and felt more "jump scare" focused, in my opinion. ![]() ![]() The sequel was also great, but for different reasons. I think Alien Isolation may do this right, by having only one real enemy to be fearful of. Scariest game in the series by far, although due to a prevalence of necromorphs they sort of lose the impact by the end of the game. I love when you, the player, know nothing about what is really going on and feel completely isolated. The first game was a blast, it felt like the original Resident Evil. After a number of years of being a wimp, I finally sat down and played through all 3 main Dead Space games (on Ch 5 of #3 as I write this). ![]()
